Asset Liability Management Analyst

Volunteer Corporate Credit Union (VolCorp)

Established in 1981, VolCorp is a not-for-profit financial based in Nashville, TN serving over 330 natural person credit unions nationwide. VolCorp’s mission is to serve as the primary financial partner for credit unions by providing superior products, services, and support.

We are currently recruiting for an Asset Liability Management Analyst.

Position Summary

As an Asset Liability Management Analyst you will be a part of a valuable team which services our member credit unions. As an ALM Analyst you will gather data from credit unions and use that data in the application software to help evaluate the credit union’s strategies in terms of mitigating risk factors such as interest and liquidity. You will collaborate with members at various credit unions to assist in the goal of aiming to synchronize the timing of the cash inflows and outflows to minimize business risks in meeting financial obligations and adhere to regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run credit unions’ ALM models on various frequencies to determine levels of interest rate and liquidity risk.
  • Validate results and create report packages.
  • Be a resource to clients for ALM questions
  • Reviews technical design and code, mentoring teams for constant improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members on process improvement of the model and educational opportunities.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics preferred. Minimum of 2 – 4 years related experience in accounting or finance required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong verbal, written and nonverbal communication skills
  • Strong professional etiquette.
  • Effective presentation skills to present ALM results to audiences of varying knowledge levels.
  • Knowledge of various software platforms to assist in job, such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Time Management and ability to easily accept and manage change.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated. Requiring very little direct supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and within group settings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • No unusual or extreme physical demands
  • Must be flexible to work some overtime

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel is not required.
  • The job will be fully remote with some expectations to be on-site at VolCorp headquarters periodically.

Position Summary

As the Director of Software Development at Volunteer Corporate Credit Union (VolCorp), you will lead a dedicated team of developers, business analysts, and DBAs in designing, implementing, and maintaining innovative financial software solutions that drive our business forward. You will collaborate with cross-functional leadership to align technology initiatives with organizational goals and ensure compliance with industry regulations. This role combines hands-on oversight of development processes with strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management, requiring both strong technical expertise and exceptional leadership skills. A strong background in various software development methodologies, the modern Microsoft .NET stack, secure development practices, and a secure software supply chain is crucial to succeed in this position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and provides technical leadership, vision, and direction for software engineering teams.
  • Oversees day-to-day activities of multiple teams which design, develop, and support software applications to meet business requirements.
  • Drives the development life-cycle from requirements analysis, feasibility estimates, design, code, documentation, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Reviews technical design and code, mentoring teams for constant improvement.
  • Supports the change management process to manage software releases, application patching, and changes to production configurations.
  • Oversees and manages department expenses and budget planning.

RELATED DUTIES:

  • Prepare reports of programming activities, identify procedural changes and impact.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by VP, IT or Director Systems Engineering.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Programming, Computer Science or related area or equivalent years directly related experience plus 15+ years progressive experience with development of application programs and analysis of programming systems.

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for VolCorp’s software solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing development team, promoting best practices in coding, testing, DevOps, and secure software supply chain processes.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee system architecture decisions, code reviews, and operational support for .NET and related modern Microsoft technologies, ensuring effective utilization of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git to deliver high-quality, secure software solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments (Accounting, Operations, Investments, Risk Management, etc.) to refine requirements and deliver robust, scalable applications.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage department budgets, resources, and timelines, providing clear updates to executive leadership.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date documentation for new and existing systems, ensuring compliance with credit union regulations and secure development practices.
  • Issue Escalation: Serve as a key escalation point for troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Security Advocacy: Champion secure development practices, including threat modeling, vulnerability scanning, and adherence to relevant frameworks.

Operations Specialist

Position Summary

Serve as liaison and the primary contact between the member credit unions regarding all aspects of their relationship with the corporation. Communicate with members by telephone and email regarding transactions, system support, and related inquiries.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take financial transactions from member credit unions (Including domestic and international wires, ACH transfers, currency orders, loan payments, etc.).
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries.
  • Research and resolve complex issues with credit unions as appropriate.
  • Provide frontline support for VolCorp’s internet applications.
  • Adhere to all BSA, OFAC, and Security regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare VolCorp’s check deposit
  • Prepare and balance foreign check deposits.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to primary responsibilities, incumbent is also expected to complete extensive cross-training in other areas of Operations, including, but not limited to:

Cash Vault
Serve as liaison between member credit unions and Loomis regarding all aspects of VolCorp’ s Cash Vault service. Monitor orders submitted by credit unions for each of the six vault locations. Ensure orders are completed properly by Loomis. Manage cash flow in each vault. Determine and maintain appropriate cash levels for each location while minimizing opportunity costs and Loomis expenses. Place FedCash orders and shipments to maintain appropriate cash balances.

Wires/ACH Processing
Responsible for managing and overseeing the processing of financial transactions, including the accurate and timely execution of Wire/ACH transfers. Ensure stringent compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor transaction details for accuracy and collaborate with the accounting department to resolve discrepancies. Maintain secure handling of sensitive information. Complete research and provide support for both internal and external inquiries related to Wire/ACH Transfers.

Check Adjustments
Research discrepancies between general ledger accounts and suspense entries. Responsible for daily balancing of suspense accounts to ensure they are reconciled with accounting department daily. Provide specialized research information to member credit unions. In certain instances, submit adjustments to the Federal Reserve Bank, Endpoint, ViewPointe and complete journal voucher to debit/credit the credit union’s account or to clear suspense items.

User Administration
Send new authorization forms to credit unions as requested. Assist with annual “user audit” to ensure user roles and permissions are current and accurate. In certain instances, perform user administration for all member-facing websites/applications. Ensure timely and accurate processing of authorization requests from member credit unions.

RELATED DUTIES:

  • Provide back-up duties for other Operations Specialist.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to company and governmental policies and regulations, including those related to Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plan compliance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma. 1-2 years experience as a Customer Service Representative or progressive experience using electronic data processing systems or the banking industry. Banking or credit union experience strongly preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Effective telephone skills and etiquette
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively switch between tasks and manage multiple priorities
